Déjà Vu
He nacido mil veces... en ciudades como
Madrid, Boston, Baltimore, Chicago, Philadelphia ...
aplastante,
... pintado en el cielo infinitos mandalas.
Él desvela - a mi incardinada estética panóptica-
Vivir, morir y renacer...
Otra vez esa voz interior

All we hear is Radio ga ga
Radio goo goo
Radio ga ga...
Era elegir entre The Matrix Revolution
[Darren Aronofsky]
Era elegir entre Johnny Mnemonic
[Robert Longo] u Origen [Christopher Nolan].
Sencillamente era elegir entre Automatismo
o Poesía.
Entre Artificio

All we hear is Radio ga ga
Radio goo goo
Radio ga ga...

¡Andamos!

Editorial Reviews
Review
"David Rose has written a spectacular book. While glass slabs
have already entered every nook and cranny of our lives, Rose paints a
much more compelling future where we are deeply engaged with enchanted objects.
Rose’s vision of human computer interaction is more exciting and
persuasive than the current norm and this brilliant book gives us a road
map for how to get there. While I’ll continue to invest in many things
that improve our glass slab world, I believe that the future is
enchanted objects." (Brad Feld, Managing Director at Foundry Group)
“Beyond the internet of things we find the internet of enchanted objects, a medium designed for pre-attentive cognition, conveying information subliminally and delightfully. I highly recommend this book. It is filled with evocative examples that will influence our imagination and help us move beyond our fixation on the screen.” (John Seely Brown, former chief scientist, Xerox, and visiting scholar at the University ofSouthern California)

"David
Rose's vision for enchanted objects and their platforms is spot on.
With this book, he offers innovators and businesses a convincing guide
for success in this space." (Glenn Lurie, President, Emerging
Enterprises and Partnerships, AT&T Mobility)
“David Rose does not predict. He extrapolates the future from personal experience and technical fluency. His balance between a romantic humanism and scientific destiny is unique. His storytelling is intellectually rich, laced with history and never pedantic. Enchanted Objects is a truly enlightening read.” (Nicholas Negroponte, Professor and Co-Founder, MIT Media Lab; author of Being Digital; a founder of WiReD Magazine)
"Delightful. . . . In the scrum of talking heads wrestling to gain control of the narrative behind the Internet of Things, Mr. Rose is an engaging, plain-spoken guide." (The New York Times)
"Rose touches something significant to most of us... A fine tour d’horizon of innovative enchantment and its ground rules and responsibilities." (Kirkus Reviews)
"In the fully realized, enchanted world of David Rose...objects that, once instructed, require no human prompting to function, already exist. They're part of the Internet of Things, an ethereal interconnection of gadgets and human desires that...will pervade our lives in the very near future." (Wall Street Journal)
"Provocative." (Fast Company)

The Physical Language Workshop (PLW) is a research group led by
John Maeda and Henry Holtzman from 2003-2008
at the MIT Media Laboratory. The group designed tools for creating digital
content in a networked environment. PLW research includes OPENSTUDIO, an
experimental online micro-economy exploring creativity, collaboration and capitalism,
Simplicity, a consortium of students and sponsors investigating innovative
approaches towards simplicity in design, and E15, an experimental
architecture for designing rich interactions with web content.
Our primary impact targets are in the areas of general digital media service
architectures, global e-commerce, distance education, and visual information display systems.
Two new Media Lab research initiatives, Information Ecology and Design Ecology, are now continuing
the work done at the PLW, ACG, and VLW.

Espacios MediaLabs
aprendiendo a construir y a descifrar”.

Human Connectedness research group
Mission
Humans have a fundamental need for contact with other humans. Our interactions and relationships with other people form a network that supports us, makes our lives meaningful, and ultimately enables us to survive. A variety of personal factors, such the need to travel or live in a different place apart from family and friends, threaten our ability to form and attain balance in the kinds of relationships that we want and need to have with others. The impact of customs and trends that exist at a societal level, such as the widespread use of certain technologies that may have isolating effects, is a subject of increasing study. These conditions put our mental and physical well-being at risk and, in turn, jeopardize the health of our communities and civilizations as a whole.
The Human Connectedness research group explores the topic of human relationships and how they are mediated by technology. Our mission is to conceive a new genre of technologies and experiences that combat the effects mentioned above and allow us to build, maintain, and enhance relationships in new ways. We also aim to enable new kinds of individual bonds and communities that were not possible before but may be beneficial or fun.
Beyond imagining new forms of social interaction, we wish to explore how new technologies change the way people can be related to each other -- in the same way that, for example, we feel related to people in our families, attached to things that are important to us, or bonded to friends and loved ones. Some other key research questions for the group are:
|
We gain inspiration for our projects from a variety of sources that include the results of scientific studies, observations of people and how they interact, ongoing dialogues with potential users of new technologies, as well as personal experience in relationships. While we wish to project ourselves into the future to the greatest extent possible in imagining new technologies, we place emphasis on building working prototypes, the use of which we can study and learn from. The Human Connectedness group was established in September 2001 and was based at Media Lab Europe in Dublin, Ireland. Media Lab Europe closed on 14 January 2005. |
